Hogsmeade

The only entirely wizarding community in Britain, Hogsmeade is a quaint little village located near Hogwarts. It consists of small thatched cottages, shops and the Hogsmeade Train Station. Most of the businesses are found along High Street. Hogsmeade was founded by Hengist of Woodcroft, around the same time as Hogwarts.

If we had a map of Hogsmeade, it would go right here. Which is totally a hint.

Dervish & Banges

  • Located near the end of High Street, Dervish & Banges sells and repairs magical equipment.

Gladrags Wizardwear

  • A clothing store, where you can buy various things including strange socks. Gladrags Wizardwear has additional shops in London and Paris.

The Hog's Head

  • The sign in front of the small inn and pub is a wild boar's severed head bleeding on a white cloth around it. The Hog's Head is found off the main strip, on a side street, and attracts a less wholesome crowd than the Three Broomsticks, the kind of people who don't want to be recognized. Aberforth Dumbledore tends bar in the small, one room (goat scented) pub. Presumably there are rooms above the bar since the Hog's Head is an inn.
  • The Hog's Head was the headquarters of the 1612 Goblin Rebellion.

Hogsmeade Station

  • The train station isn't actually found within Hogsmeade, but on the far side of the lake from the village, with Hogwarts nestled between them. There is a boat dock — for that memorable first year boat ride to the castle — nearby, and a road that extends around the lake to the castle gates (and presumably near the village itself).

Honeydukes Sweetshop

  • The sweetshop in Hogsmeade, a favorite destination for Hogwarts' students. Honeydukes sells all sorts of candy and sweets, including fudge and chocolate handmade by the owners Ambrosius Flume and his wife. They live above the shop.
  • There is a hidden tunnel from Hogwarts that comes out in the basement of Honeydukes.

Madam Puddifoot's

  • Located on a side street, Madam Puddifoot's is a cramped tea shop with girly, frilly, tacky decor and small, intimate circular tables.

Post Office

  • Hundreds of owls sit on color-coded shelves. The size of the owl and the color shelf depend on where you're sending your post and how fast you want it to get there.

Scrivenshaft's Quill Shop

  • This shop sells quills, stationary and presumably ink.

The Shrieking Shack

  • Abandoned for decades, the Shrieking Shack is supposed to be the most haunted house in Britain. In the seventies, the Shack housed Remus Lupin's monthly transformation, the screams and other noises earning the building its name. Even though the shack has been relatively silent since Lupin graduated, the residents of Hogsmeade still avoid it and pass on the stories. Even the ghosts of Hogwarts avoid it, claiming it's the home of a "rough crowd."
  • The garden is overgrown, the windows tightly boarded up, and all of the entrances (other than the tunnel from the Whomping Willow) are sealed.

The Three Broomsticks

  • Another inn and pub, The Three Broomsticks is owned by Madam Rosmerta. The pub has a mirror over the bar, and tables and booths. Hogwarts' students have been known to stop in for a butterbeer during their Hogsmeade trips.

Zonko's Joke Shop

  • At one time, Zonko's was a favorite stop for Hogwarts' students. The shop used to carry a wide assortment of jokes and tricks. However, at some point during the 1996-97 school year, Zonko's closed.
