St. Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries
St. Mungo's was founded in the late 1500s or early 1600s by Mungo Bonham. Unlike Muggle hospitals that have doctors, St. Mungo's uses Healers who treat their patients with magic and potions. The staff uniform consists of lime green robes, and the hospital emblem is a crossed wand and bone.
Entrance: Reception
- In Muggle London there is a "Closed for Refurbishment" department store named Purge and Dowse, Ltd. In the window of the storefront is a mannequin. To gain entrance to the hospital, one must speak to the mannequin, which will nod and allow you to walk into the window. Inside is the reception area for the hospital and a greeter who can direct you to your chosen ward.
Ground Floor: Artifact Accidents
(Cauldron explosion, wand-backfiring, broom crashes, etc.)
First Floor: Creature-Induced Injuries
(Bites, stings, burns, embedded spiders, etc.)
- Including the Dai Llewellyn Ward for Serious Bites, where Arthur Weasley was treated for his giant snake bite. The ward is small, has only one window, and the light sources are shining crystal bubbles clustered in the middle of the ceiling.
Second Floor: Magical Bugs
(Contagious maladies, e.g., dragon pox, vanishing sickness, scrofungulus)
Third Floor: Potion and Plant Poisoning
(Rashes, regurgitation, uncontrollable giggling, etc.)
Fourth Floor: Spell Damage
(Unliftable jinxes, hexes, and incorrectly applied charms, etc.)
- Including ward 49, The Janus Thickey Ward long-term resident ward where Gilderoy Lockhart and the Longbottoms used to stay.
Fifth Floor: Visitor's tearoom and gift shop.
